I just went up in size from my EX 21 to now a Hawk G426 (so 26") I really did like the extra space to swing around my boards. I think going big just gives you more options. I want to eventually do scroll work on some furniture as well as doing larger pieces so I needed the extra size. The Seyco 24 does have a nice big table but I am sure either the King or the Pegas would also be wonderful saws....I really do like the Hawk G4... it is a beast compared to my Excalibur. By the way, I just love the picture of your daughter and you...thanks for sharing!

Very nice! I miss Idaho....graduated from Coeur d'Alene HS and North Idaho College. Really nice work. And your idea for using a counter weight is an excellent idea. I will be using that on my current project as well. Thanks for the idea! Marie

Dick, I bet she really did like it. It is really colorful and it has a vintage look to it as well. Reminds me of some of my dresses I wore as a little kid.... Really nice!

RJ, from what everyone said it just doesn't go as slow as I would like. So I am considering the the one here by Foredom: https://intarsia.com/collections/hardware/products/foredom-variable-speed-bench-lathe?variant=31902373806123 But I like the option that Dave has of putting on a chuck to change to a larger diameter shaft...so I just don't know. I know with Dave's idea it would require a machinist to make a piece, which I am not oppose to having done. It's just that it still runs at 1750 RPMs where as the Foredom goes down to 500 RPMs..... I decided that the Bauer could work that way and it can go faster (which I am not interested in) and I really like the quality of Rikon....I have a few of their tools...Would like to know your thoughts?

Charlie, Always fun to see your work. I love the thistle, did you have that on the previous one...I can't remember it. Also, you really did a nice job on his eyes. Pretty intense gaze.

I love it! Really interesting design. I am presently a cat person since I lost my doggie a few months ago. Here are my two goofy kitties taking a nap. They are too big for their basket but they seem to make due.

Dick, I noticed you routered the inside edge on your frame. Did you use a hand router or did you try that on the router table? Marie

It was good to see this thread again that @preprius started as a reminder to Wax my saws. I use Trewax as well.... I have been waxing quite a bit as of late because our moisture is crazy high right now in the Northwest and it seems things want to rust. I have never waxed my scroll saw blades and haven't felt the need to do that.... but I think I will try waxing my Bandsaw blades as they may perform better and last longer. It was fun reading all the post on this again. Thanks for digging this up again!

What to look for before buying an Excalibur scroll saw

Wow, I aways wanted the purple one...I have a EX 21 and it is green and I love it! I don't know much about this one though. Kevin @kmmcrafts knows more about these saws than anyone I know....hopefully he can help. -
Jimmy where did you get that? I have a jointer which I do not like and honestly it is a machine that scares me. So, I would like to replace it with something else. For my big pieces I use my track saw but for smaller pieces, I hate to hall out the track saw for that. Thank you ahead of time.
