  1. My GF made 4 birdhouses for her mother.. simple bluebird ones.. After seeing yours, I told her she was slacking. LOL
  2. I like that.. very nice.
  3. Nice job. I've not ever tried doing any inlay yet..
  4. I may try it next time I use it.. see if I can flatten it before putting the pattern on. I just glued up some quarter sawn red oak for the next project.
  5. I like the octopus because my little bathroom in the hallway, I have a shower curtain with a kracken on it, wrapped around a ship. I have a glued up jigsaw puzzle of 3 frigates in the water that I am going to frame and hang in that bathroom. I think the octopus would go awesome in there, if you wouldn't mind sharing the pattern with me.
  6. Did you find that it cupped back at all after like a week or so?
  7. Yep.. Mine is cupped. some worst than others.. I have another project that over the roughly 7" across it is, it's cupped about 1/8" in the middle.. Made for difficult cutting cause it made the wood bounce a lot. How do you fix the cup? I used the heat gun trick on this pattern, because humidity actually made it so the cup side was on the pattern side, and I was able to flip it upside down and use the heat gun on the back and it flatted out for the most part. My current project was cupped on the back and stayed that way. I don't want to use a heat gun and risk heating up the painters tape or pattern too much and make the glue lose it's tack, or make the glue seep into the wood more.. I have bunch of the wood left over and it would be great to flatten out any piece before and after any pattern is applied.
  8. I like the octopus.. so did you cut out the octopus, and paint the dots on the backer after the octopus was glued to the backer?
  9. Cut on the quilted maple guitar seconds from the guy on FB.. I forgot his name... Another Sheila Landry design.
  10. I've thought about trying to make a plexi table covering for zero clearance.. But I don't really cut out things to keep that would need it. So the playing card worked for me.
  11. Cut this over the spring, but just now posting it. I have decided I HATE cutting letters out like that. It's soo much harder to cut them I had to tape a playing card down to the table to keep the opening tight so the letters wouldn't just fall through. Made with curly maple and some walnut.
  12. I did something similar to that.. You did a great job on it.
  13. Beautiful work.. Intarsia is something I have not tried yet. I am not sure I have the patience for it.
  14. Very nice.. Too bad with 2 dalmatians, nothing in this house stays clean. LOL Anyone want me to ship them some dalmatian giltter? It's free.
  15. Some day I'll try one of your layered patterns.. I do like them.
  16. I cannot use photoshop to save my life. I only clear coat like 99% of my projects. I have done a couple of Sheila Landry candle trays which had some gel stain on parts (I love sheila landry designs..) But I like the natural beauty of the wood to shine throuigh. I use black backers to make stuff stand out. I primarly cut Cherry, Maple, Red Oak and Ash. I did buy some Hickory last time Just for giggles.. I plan on going back to get some qs sapele since it's their wood of the month and 10% off. I may pick up some walnut while there too, but most likely more ash, cherry, and maple. I did buy some of that quilted maple guitar seconds from the guy on FB.. the narrow pieces are very bowed. they bow up prob 3/4in over 21 inches..so I'll turn those into ornaments.. Wish I had helix head for my planer to get them thinner than 1/4". The wide boards have some cupping. over the width of 7" they cup just under 1/8". I have two projects that I'm working on for those right now. Just to see how the wood looks once it's got a nice finish on it. I have no plans to turn them into wider boards. I think they would just be too wavy.
  17. Just wondering what you sold them for.. PM me if you wish to share.
  18. Yeah, I can only cut a pattern once.. After that I need to give it like 3-4 months before I will cut it again. I just have too many I want to do.
  19. Sheila Landry design. Cut from 1/4" cherry
  20. I have the cool blocks in mine as well. As far as I've gone, I can resaw to 1/4" without an issue. I haven't tried going any less than that.
  21. I have a late 1990's Delta 14" with the enclosed base. The 28-280 model. I buy all my lumber as 5/4 and resaw it.
  22. Timberwolf makes nice blades too. I have a 1/2" blade on mine and I resaw with it. One very important thing is to get the setup right. If you don't, you will be cutting angles. spend the time getting the table perpendicular to the blade. You also need to make sure your guides are set correct. I highly suggest you look for the Carter setup video's on Youtube.. This is a great one. Alex is a master at bandsaws
  23. I'm with you.. I also don't feel like my Dewalt cuts that great.. I got it used and it's not correct. If I have the blade perpendicular to table, with the blade arms up, and I move them down, the blade will move away from a straight edge laid against it. Also, when doing straight cuts, the wood actually has to be pushed in on an angle. so instead of pushing straight, the wood is about 5 degrees to the left.. The blade moving sideways, no matter how I try to adjust the screws in the clamps causes some wobble in the wood. Someday I want to replace it..
  24. I like them, but trying to spin something that long (cause I don't use sprials), my belly would get in the way.. LOL
  25. Where did you find the pattern for it?
